IGA KOSICKA
8 JUNE-14 SEPTEMBER 2024
Iga Kosicka is an illustrator and art educator based in Copenhagen. She graduated with a degree in art history in 2011 and graphic design in 2013 from Poznan (PL).
She has been experimenting with different media, starting from gouache and acrylics, through layering and collage, to colour pencils. She finds the vibrance of textures pleasing, as it adds more dynamics to her rather static compositions. The topics that she is most interested in are a mixture of nature, city, people interacting with each other, and a feeling of solitude. Her work reflects what she sees and experiences, "filtered" with colours corresponding to her mood. She likes to use colour to counter the melancholic topics she tends to explore. She usually applies a cold, pastel palette, but she needs to add more intense/contrasting colour spots like red, ultramarine, or orange to engage the viewer.
